Taishan
Medical University , lying at the foot of the world-famous Mt. Taishan,
in Tai an, Shandong Province, the hometown of Confucius, was founded in
1974. Through efforts and hard work of several generations, it has
developed into a modern, flourishing institution of higher education.
The university now has 28 majors ,16 master' s degree specialties
and 15 faculties and departments, including School of Nursing,
Engineering School, Population School, School of Continuing Education
and Department of Radiology, Department of Family Planning ,Department
of Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy Department, Department of Sports
Medicine, Department of Laboratory Medicine Department of Information
Science and English Department.
Today

undergraduates, 400 postgraduates and nearly 8000 students of
continuing education are studying on the four campuses of the
university. TMU has 8 affiliated hospitals. The university has a range
of campuses covering the area of 2.13 Km˛ (213 Hectares). Up to the end
of 2005, the university has over 1452 teaching staff.
The university offers a number of courses to foreign students since 1991. It has been designated by the National Ministry of Education
as one of the higher learning universities eligible to accept overseas
students and TMU has already accepted overseas students from different
countries.
The University has established the sister relationship with School of
Medicine Ehime University (Japan) in 1992, Wonju Medical College and
Yonsei Medical College of Yonsei University (Korea) in 1993, Crimea
Medical University (Ukraine) in 1995,Tokai College of Medical
Engineering (Japan) in 1998,Middlesex University (London) and Kharkiv
National University (Ukraine) in 2003, Han Yang University (Korea) in
2005. The university also has cooperative research programs with
Utrecht University (Netherlands) and University of Kentucky (U.S.A).
